Rocker Panels – Made Better Than Ever

Called upon to fabricate critical rocker panels for a major automotive manufacturer, LTC’s experts took a good look at the company’s existing design and found ways to make it a good deal better.

Rocker panels need to be quite rigid and strong. They are the steel piece that is an integral part of your vehicle’s body structure and located along the sides of the vehicle between front and rear wheel well openings, just below the doors.

They have traditionally been manufactured from martensitic material. The wave of the future depends on making the vehicle as light as possible but still maintaining desired robustness.

The LTC team analyzed the design and by utilizing dual phase material and spot welding bulkhead reinforcement brackets, and considerably reducing the number of components per rocker, each vehicle weighed in at 22 pounds lighter!

This is a proven testament to LTC’s forward thinking engineering expertise!
