Expert Tooling and Prototyping

When it comes to a vehicle’s success, the steps between original design and production are absolutely critical. LTC assists its customers in ensuring a seamless progression from concept to production by delivering outstanding tooling and prototyping services, backed by industry-leading expertise.

Tooling

We started out as roll form tooling specialists, and we’ve maintained that expertise for more than 50 years since. We’re a one-stop shop for roll form tooling, building a broad range of specialty tools for our customers:

  • Pre-pierced/pre-notched dies
  • Roll form dies
  • Cutoff dies
  • Mid-pierce dies
  • Secondary forming dies
  • Turnkey production lines

Because of our highly skilled associates we create everything need to manufacture a roll formed part and we build out tooling to incredibly tight tolerances so as to ensure maximum repeatability and integrity of the finished product. We tend to work more expediently than other roll forming companies, helping our customer’s project advance more rapidly into production.

LTC also designs and builds smaller–sized stamping dies and provides all necessary die maintenance and repair.

Prototyping

LTC understands our customer’s objectives in prototype development: to provide proofs of designs and concepts, to assess potential design deficits and manufacturing hazards, and to ultimately minimize overall manufacturing costs. We prototype all part configurations, whether roll formed or stamped assembly, with these considerations firmly in mind.

LTC prototyping enables shortened time to production and ensures consistency between prototyped and production parts. Prototypes produced by us will be identical to production parts made by us, with essentially no distinctions in terms of quality or functionality. In some cases, we can do pull-ahead production tooling, utilizing these tools in the prototype process before putting them into service in the production environment.

At all stages we strive to gather and share relevant knowledge, learning throughout the process in order to minimize failure, reduce the need for retooling or reengineering, and minimize costs.
